Privacy policy
VisitorFix helps website owners find problems their visitors run into. This page explains what our script collects on those websites, and what we keep about site owners.
What the script records on websites
- JavaScript error messages and the page they happened on
- Requests from the page that failed, with the address path and status code, never the request contents
- Buttons or links that were clicked repeatedly or did nothing, described by their label
- Whether the page was wider than the screen on a phone
- Device type (phone, tablet or computer) and browser name, worked out from the browser's own identification
- Once a day per visitor, a signal that the script is running, used to count visitors checked
What it never records
- Anything visitors type into forms, including passwords
- Cookies, or the content of pages
- IP addresses. To count different visitors we keep a one-way scrambled code made from the address, which can't be turned back into it
- Query strings in addresses. Text that looks like an email address, token or key is removed before it is stored
Site owners can mark any part of their page as private with the data-vf-private attribute, and the script ignores it completely.
Site owners
We store your email address to log you in and send your summaries, and your plan details. Payments are processed by our reseller (Polar); we never see your card. Fix prompts may be written with the help of an AI provider, which receives only the technical details of a problem, never visitor identities.
How long we keep data
Problems marked fixed are deleted after 90 days. Problems no visitor has hit for 90 days are deleted. Daily visitor counts are kept for a year.
Deleting data
You can delete any site, or your whole account, from the dashboard at any time. This removes everything recorded for it immediately.
